SPDC Produces 512 Million MMscf/d In Western Niger Delta, Nigeria

Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), operator of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation–Royal Dutch Shell Plc joint venture, has produced a total of 512 million standard cubic feet of gas (MMscf/d) on November 18, 2009, Daily Trust reported. The production level is the highest in two years from the area. Prior to this development, average gas output from SPDC's Western operations was 300MMscf/d.
"What is more, this has been done safely, without harm to people and the environment. We are pleased that all the gas has been used for domestic power generation and manufacturing, as these are key sectors for national economic growth," said Mutiu Sunmonu, managing director of SPDC.
He said that SPDC has achieved the record production from four gas plants - Utorogu, Oben, Sapele and Ughelli East.
