Iraq Qualifies 45 Companies For Its Second Oil Bidding Round

Iraq has selected 45 energy companies to compete in its second bidding round to develop its huge oil fields, Reuters reported. The latest bidding round is scheduled for November 2009. All the qualified companies did not compete for the contracts in the previous bidding round. Baghdad granted only one of eight contracts offered in the first round in June 2009.

The 45 companies qualified for the second round include: Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, BG Group Plc, BHP Billiton, BP Plc, Cairn Energy plc, Chevron Corporation, CNOOC Limited, China National Petroleum Corporation, ConocoPhillips, Edison SpA, Eni S.p.A, Exxon Mobil Corporation, OAO Gazprom, Hess Corporation, INPEX Corporation, Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd., Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation, JSC KazMunaiGas Exploration Production, Korea Gas Corporation, OAO Lukoil Holdings, Maersk, Marathon Oil Corporation, Mitsubishi Corporation, Mitsui Oil Exploration Co., Nexen Inc, Nippon Oil Corporation, OAO TatNeft, Occidental Petroleum Corporation, Oil India Limited, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), Pakistan Petroleum Limited, PT Pertamina, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam), Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas), Repsol YPF, S.A., OJSC Rosneft Oil Company, Royal Dutch Shell plc, Sinochem Corporation, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec), Sonangol, StatoilHydro ASA, Total S.A, Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO), Wintershall BASF Group and Woodside Petroleum Ltd.
