Fluor Bags Contract From ISAB Energy To Reconstruct Damaged Power Plant

Published: 08-Sep-2009

Fluor Corporation, that designs, builds and maintains projects, has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by ISAB Energy (ERG Group) for the reconstruction of one of its two 266MW combined cycle gas turbine power trains in Priolo Gargallo, Sicily, Italy.

Train No. 1 was damaged during an accident at the site in October 2008, and is part of a two-train, 532MW power plant that provides electric power to the Italian grid. The total installed cost for the project is around $150m and is being managed by Fluor.

Dave Dunning, president of Fluor’s Power Group, said: “Our European design and construction expertise was a key factor in securing this unique EPC opportunity in Sicily. We are now working diligently with ISAB Energy to rebuild the facility and bring its power plant back to full capacity.”

Fluor’s Camberley, UK, operations center has designed the plant to correspond with its original design. Reconstruction of power train No. 1 is underway in order to restore the full production capacity of the plant by the end of second quarter 2010. The company is also performing select operations and maintenance services for the ISAB Energy refinery in Priolo Gargallo.
